IEEE individual learning programs in digital signal and speech processing

A detailed description is presented for two ILPs developed by the author: Digital Signal Processing (DSP) and Introduction to Digital Speech Processing. Their structures are fairly similar: both are based on standard and widely quoted texts. A study guide links the various components of the course, sets the learning pace and acts as a self-test instrument, containing many worked-out examples, original illustrations, and numerous spot-check questions. The texts are augmented by the course readers Applications of Digital Signal Processing and Speech Analysis, collections of classic papers that enhance and update the texts. Sound cassettes add an auditory dimension to the learning experience by demonstrating (for DSP) various signal-processing effects. Optional hands-on simulation laboratories combining professional software for the IBM-PC with over 30 tested experiments for each course are also discussed.<<ETX>>
