In this paper, we present an extension of the Generalised Predictive Control which incorporates feedforward action. This extended controller, referred to as GPCF (extended Generalised Predictive Control incorporating Feed-forward), is applicable to situations when there are measurable disturbances affecting the process output. Simulation studies together with an application involving real-time control of a heat-exchanger pilot plant demonstrate that the GPCF offers improved regulation in situations where there are measurable disturbances.
