The Leech Lattice as a Code for the Gaussian Channel

The communication properties of the Leech lattice are examined and discussed. A simple upper bound on the probability of error using the first n shells of the lattice as a signalling system is derived. This upper bound is shown to be lower than the upper bound given by Gallager (1965) .
