The balance point: Indexing policies

In this column, indexing and abstracting company representatives discuss several aspects of indexing policy and database selection. Authors were asked to describe the selection of titles and the content of the database and how the database is revised and updated. They also discuss how the subject is defined, how balance, quality, and appropriateness of the indexing are achieved, and the publisher's approach to nontraditional sources. In conclusion, they address the future of the publication, download and tapeload versions of indexing of specific periodical titles, and related topics.
