Sliding mode variable-structure control for a 1MW variable-speed adjustable-pitch wind energy conversion system

A sliding model variable structure (SMVS) robust control scheme for a variable speed adjustable-pitch wind energy conversion system is presented.Because of the unique merit of SMVS,a controller is (designed) according to the SMVS theory.The designed controller regulates the turbine speed to extract (maximum) power from the wind and adjusts pith to obtain constant power.The simulation results show the (proposed) scheme is effective and has strong robust performances.
