SIMULATED SEISMIC LOAD TESTS ON REINFORCED CONCRETE COLUMNS. DISCUSSION AND CLOSURE

A discussion of a paper with the aforementioned title by Watson and Park, published in this journal (Volume 120, Number 6, June 1994), is presented. The discussion focuses on the length of column over which confinement reinforcement should be placed, based on level of axial load. Discussers Moehle, Rodriguez and Lehman note the methodology of the authors and then offer an alternative perspective based on a first-order equation. Discussion is followed by closure from the authors.
