PURPOSE: A method for providing a region breakaway monitoring service using a mobile communication network is provided to automatically monitor in case that protection objects are broken away to a random other cell and notify the region breakaway fact and current position information to a communication terminal of a previously set monitoring requester. CONSTITUTION: A monitoring server transmits a telephone number of a monitoring object terminal to an MSC(Mobile Switching Center), and retrieves and confirms a cell number of a communication area in which the monitoring object terminal is located through a general position information retrieval process(S12). The monitoring server stores and manages a telephone number of a monitoring request terminal, the telephone number of the monitoring object terminal, and the cell number of the monitoring object terminal as monitoring information in a database(S13). The monitoring server compares a cell number of a communication area in which the monitoring object terminal is currently located with a designated cell number previously stored in the database for performing a region breakaway monitoring operation(S14). If the cell number of the communication area is not identical to the designated cell number previously stored in the database, the monitoring server transmits the region breakaway fact of the monitoring object terminal and a guidance message for guiding a current position to the monitoring request terminal(S15). If monitoring release is not requested from a corresponding subscriber, the monitoring server updates and stores the designation cell number of the monitoring object terminal previously stored in the database as the cell number of the communication area corresponding to the current position(S18).
