Pipeline service failures have occurred because of pressure-cycle-induced fatigue crack growth of defects. Research has been conducted to predict the fatigue life of surface crack on the natural gas pipeline subjected to cyclic internal pressure. Information regarding cyclic pressure variations, amplitude and frequency, for a gas pipeline was surveyed The fatigue crack propagation behavior of weld metal and base metal of API 5L X65 pipeline was evaluated The full scale fatigue test was conducted to compare experimental value with predicted fatigue life.
