A control method of wind power system using a doubly fed wound rotor induction generator and suppression of tower shadow effect

When the blade of the windmill crosses with the tower in wind power generation system, the wind pressure that blows against the blade becomes weak and the rotor speed decreases. The method using stator-flux-oriented vector control to prevent the effect of the tower shadow for the wind generator system with a wound rotor induction generator is proposed in this paper. The response to changes in active power command value and the suppression of tower shadow effect are analyzed. Finally, the experimental results are obtained for using a 2[kW] test system. The proposed control method is effective because the power variation is little even if the rotor speed changes by the effect of the tower shadow.
