Abstract A generalizing planning system (GPLAN) is presented which allows for a collection of operation research models to be easily integrated with a data base management system. The example which is discussed deals with a water pollution problem, which is analyzed for its structural complexity and informational requirements, a high level query language discussed which allows a planner to use such a system without particular computer expertise.
