Modelling of magnetic components for power electronics: a circuit equivalent approach

The use of magnetic components in power electronics is becoming more and more demanding, as well as control systems are pushing these devices to work in precise working points of the magnetic characteristic. These control techniques improve the performance of the power device but force the designer to simulate more and more pushed. It is therefore necessary to find ways to model the magnetic properties of the materials used in order to perform accurate simulations. In this article is proposed a way to realize the model through equivalent circuits and applied to the study of a series of components (inductors, transformers, etc.) intended for power electronics.
