Summary Although we have only recently become regular readers of Notes and Records, we believe that it must be relatively rare for an article to inspire a new experiment. However, this note describes a very recent case where it happened to us. A paper describing work by Thomas Andrews FRS on high pressure mixtures of CO2+N2 prompted us to make a series of measurements using a newly developed technique for locating critical point.
