The Eonyang Castle Restoration Project has given insight regarding the structure of the North Gate Site and the construction techniques of the Main Walls. Upon excavation around the main walls of the North Gate Site of Eonyang Town Castle, 1 annex wall, 2 salience walls, the continuing moat and even more has been discovered. The construction method and the scale of the North Gate Site including parts of the Main Walls, annex walls and salience walls were confirmed during the excavation. The most notable discovery was that the wall isn’t made in the terraced construction method rather a boundary stone line has divided the Main Wall and the salience/annex wall. The excavation also offered insight as to the flat shape of the moat, its scale and installation. The order in which the Main Walls, salience walls, and annex walls were built was also discovered. The Main Walls and salience walls were built simultaneously. Later the annex walls were constructed. It seems the water supply was kept at the elevated north-west corner which fed into the moat by way of trenches. There is an agreement pending to rebuild as well as excavate remains in the annals of Eonyang Town Castle. How to restoration of the North Gate Site will be decided upon after the results of the excavation.
