Review on Parallel Spatial Analysis Algorithms

As one of the core functions of GIS,spatial analysis aims at processing massive data and analyzing more complicated phenomena.However,previous sequential algorithms couldn′t meet the needs of spatial analysis in terms of processing speed,computing efficiency and so on.So parallel spatial analysis algorithms,as an effective way to solve the current problems,have received more and more attention.On the basis of introducing spatial analysis and parallel computation,the main attention was focused on elaborating the progress of study on parallel spatial analysis algorithms from two major aspects:parallel vector algorithms and parallel raster algorithms.Further,under the influencing of the spatial data′s self particularities,the development of parallel spatial analysis algorithms and its remaining problems are concisely reviewed.Last,the opportunities and challenges of the study encountered in the context of the rapid development of computer hardware and software technology are also discussed.
