The migration of the Great Snipe, Gallinago media, through Turkey

Abstract The status and distribution of the Great Snipe in Turkey is discussed, all available records from the period 1966–1990 being examined. The species is almost certainly a relatively common passage migrant throughout most of the country, although the majority of the records have come from several well-watched localities. The timing and distribution of migration is discussed, with particular reference to the incidence of observer activity.
