Bearing strength of bolted connections

A situation which occurs frequently in bolted connection design is when the line- of- action of the applied force on the component is not perpendicular to the end edge of the component. An experimental study of this aspect of bearing strength was undertaken and the results are presented along with a discussion of the limitations of existing bearing stress rules (a). The number of the covering abstract of the conference is TRIS no 348547. (TRRL)
