C A Based Sensor Node Management Scheme: An Energy Efficient Approach

This work proposes a management scheme (CASM), developed around the cellular automata (CA), to reduce the energy consumption at nodes of a sensor network. Each node of the network is assumed to be equipped with CA machine which controls the decision on its state transition (active/standby) at different time, avoiding communication with its neighbors, and thereby optimizes the power consumption. A scheme has been reported for the selection of such a CA in linear time. The simulation results establish that the proposed management scheme can better utilize the resources and ensure longer life span of the sensor network.
