A compact CPW-fed stepped impedance resonator (SIR) slot dipole antenna has been investigated. Transmission-line equations together with full-wave analysis are used to analyze and design this antenna. The proposed antenna shows a 3.6% bandwidth of greater than 10 dB return loss at the center frequency of 3.86 GHz. Compared with the CPW-fed uniform impedance resonator (UIR) antenna, the proposed antenna shows a 31% length reduction.
