Control Implementation of a Flexible Manufacturing System Based on Petri Net Model

A method of control implementation for a Flexible Manufacturing System (FMS) is presented. Firstly, Colored Timed Petri Net (CTPN) is used to build the model of each controller for each level in the FMS. Based on CTPN models, each cell controller is then implemented by using PlantWorks, a software package designed for the manufacturing industries. Furthermore, an integrated data flow architecture is proposed. Finally, by using the methodology mentioned above all controllers of FMS are implemented in the laboratory integrated through a Token-Ring local area network.
