Theory and experiments of tire blow-out effects and hazard reduction control for automated vehicle lateral control system

This paper concentrates on the scenario of tire blow out and it's effects on lateral control of automobiles in an IVHS environment. A computer model for the tire burst phenomenon was developed to simulate the behavior of a car with a tire blow out. Based on this modeling, a control algorithm to compensate for the tire blow out was designed. Finally the tire burst experiments were conducted on a car to validate the tire burst model.
