A new broadband printed antenna concept is proposed, able to ensure very high operation bandwidth by simultaneously providing high gain and wide angle coverage in the azimuth plane. Typical possible application scenarios are outlined. The proposed antenna topology is described, together with design rules to set radiation gain. The concept is verified by a prototype of the antenna in the 2.4 GHz range. The design approach is confirmed, showing measured operation bandwidth of 37%. These features allow potential application for future multiple standard base station solutions (software radio), digital wireless camera, as well as for low cost integrated antennas for the mm-wave range.
