PMU based TCBR coordinated controller

The wide application of PMU(Phasor Measurement Unit) makes it possible to design the coordinated controller based on wide-area synchro measurements for multi-machine system to improve its transient stability. The mathematic model of TCBR(Thyristor Controlled Braking Resistor) controller is built and the coordinated controller based on wide-area synchro measurements is designed, which is of two-layer structure. The coordination layer applies the real-time global information provided by PMU and treats the nonlinear correlation among machines to generate the global optimal vector;while the local layer combines the global optimal vector with local information to implement the closed-loop feedback control of local machine, which avoids the uncoordinated operation among the decentralized controllers. Three-level co-state prediction algorithm with less calculation load is adopted for online application. Simulation for a four-machine system shows the proposed controller improves the transient stability of power system effectively.
