A parallel/pipelined algorithm for the computation of MDCT and IMDCT

A novel parallel/pipelined algorithm that leads to a scalable parallel/pipelined hardware architecture for the computation of the MDCT and the IMDCT required for the Advanced Audio Compression (AAC) standard has been presented. The development of algorithms for the MDCT and the IMDCT for the Audio Compression-3 (AC-3) standard as well as the short and long transforms in these two wide band audio coding standards follow the approach described.
