The increasingly widespread use of computers has been seen as heralding a new ‘industrial revolution’. Such a judgement may or may not be valid but computers will certainly have considerable impact on the nature of work and our life-style. These changes will no doubt be complex, being advantageous in some respects, but less so and even positively harmful in others.
