Wearable NFC Reader and Sensor Tag for Health Monitoring

A wearable sensor system based on near field communication (NFC) is proposed. NFC sensor tags are put on human skin and they are read out by a specially designed wearable NFC reader. The whole-body NFC reader suit can be implemented by using a double-sided conductive textile. Multiple flexible NFC antennas with switching circuitry are distributed on a textile. The textile is used as a transmission line that conveys the NFC signals and switch control signals. This paper presents a result of the first implementation trial of the concept.
