Expedited remedial action program

The Department of Toxic Substances Control is committed to restoring land to productive use by expediting the remediation of hazardous substance release sites. Progressive elements of the Expedited Remedial Action Program are designed to focus the site investigation and remedy selection on the most cost effective remedy consistent with the permanent safe-use of the land. Also, the bill promotes arbitration rather than litigation through fair and equitable allocation of costs and participants in the program can extinguish future liability for the release. Communities have an opportunity to participate in the program and benefit by the restoration of the land and elimination of any health threat.
