Application of 3D laser scanning imaging system in forest measuring.

This paper introduces the theory,performance,characteristics and operation of the three-dimensional(3D) laser scanning imaging system.Summing up the flow of forest measuring effectively and accurately by 3D laser scanning imaging system,the method of indoor work data processing,the method of picking up factors of forest mensuration as well as the method of measuring volume of stumpage and crown were summarized by the experiment in Xiaolong Moumountain of Gansu Province.The results show that using the 3D laser scanning imaging system can acquire the diorama of tree and some data such as volume and area of crown which are difficult to be obtained by the traditional method,and they can be measured repeatedly at any time;the scanned volume method can replace the traditional measuremental method by section which need not to cut down lots of trees to set up the volume table;the 3D tree model can solve the problem of tree crown measurement.Consequently,using 3D laser scanning imaging system as a tool for tree measuring has been proved visible and practical.
