Passive ranging method based on infrared images

In accordance with the characteristics of image sequence obtained by the imaging seeker of air-to-air missile,a passive ranging algorithm based on infrared image sequence is proposed.According to the characteristics of the target image,a locally-adaptive interpolation is used to improve resolution. And the target is segmented from its rail-spout.The nose-cone of aircraft is selected as the special component during the tracking.Analyzing the model of perspective projection for image seeker, the target distance is evaluated. Finally,an adaptive correction method is presented to increase the precision. The experimental results show that the algorithm is effective.
