Information characteristics for the curriculum

A technical capstone course integrates course knowledge, underscores the scientific nature of computer science, and introduces professional and graduate school topics. A capstone course brings together knowledge from many subjects. An experiment brings together many topics from the standard curriculum that are hard to integrate into standard courses. A common thread in state machines ties together the diverse topics under the theme of information characteristics. Each subject area is related to a state machine view of information and uses some specific mathematics skill. The experiment with this approach has been successful.
