Sensorless control of a brushless DC motor (BLDCM) on the ADMC330 DSP

The advent of microelectronics in general and digital signal processors (DSP) in particular has opened up new possibilities in many control applications. One example is the recently released ADMC330 DSP chip from Analog Devices. This chip uses a typical DSP core from Analog Devices, together with a dedicated set of motor control peripherals. This paper concerns the investigation into the control of a brushless DC motor using this new chip. In particular, we would like to share some experiences of using this chip and to report some initial experimental results of an novel self-starting scheme.
