Wind load provisions of the new ANSI Standard

Abstract The wind load provisions of the ANSI Standard have been revised in 1982. The revisions are the result of five years of evaluation, deliberation, and application of consensus process. The consensus process required that all negative votes and comments be considered and resolved. As a result, these revised provisions are probably the most thoroughly reviewed by the profession, of any wind load provisions. Significant changes are in format, basic wind speed, importance coefficients and pressure coefficients for enclosed buildings. Background material and discussions for these significant changes are contained in the paper.
