Magnetic relaxation in neutron‐irradiated ordered ni3Fe

Magnetic aftereffect measurements are made on ordered Ni3Fe samples after neutron-irradiation at 30 K to doses varying from 1021 to 5 × 1022 neutrons m−2. A well-defined orientation after-effect is observed at 42 K with an activation energy of 0.11 eV; this is interpreted in terms of the reorientation of an octahedral interstitial. At higher temperatures, relaxations are observed which are attributed to a long-range diffusion of defects.
