Crystal Structure of Tridecylmethylammonium Bis(4,5-dimercapto-1,3-dithiol-2-thionato(2-)-S^4,S^5)aurate(1-)

Very recently we prepared a stable LangmuirBlodgett (LB) film with high conductivity using icosanoic acid and the title complex (3C10-Au; Fig. 1).' The molecular structure of LB films has often been discussed in connection with the crystal structure of the film-component compounds. In this paper, we report X-ray structure analysis on the single crystal of 3C10-Au. A black plate crystal (0.56X0.14X0.03 mm3) of 3C10Au obtained from a mixture of benzene and acetonitrile was used for the X-ray study. The empirical absorption correction was applied after the data collection with the graphite monochromated Mo Ka radiation. The position of the gold atom was determined from the Patterson map and the other non-hydrogen atoms were located by successive difference Fourier syntheses. The structure was refined with anisotropic temperature factors for the gold and sulfur atoms and with isotropic factors for the carbon atoms. No hydrogen atoms were located. Tables 1 and 2 summarize the crystal and experimental data and the final atomic parameters, respectively. Lists of the
