A Literature Review of Influencing Factors of Technology Acquisition Mode Selection

Selecting the appropriate acquisition mode is one of the critical strategic decisions in enhancing one firm’s compet itive power.Although considerable research has been done about the modes of internal RD,technological alliance and exter nal RD in terms of market channel,it still remains a void in the literature as to the non-market channel.This paper begins with an introduction of the research background and significance,and provides a summary of research from the perspectives of acquisition channel and its affecting factors.Then,it analyzes the research directions and points out 4 limitations of the previ ous research:a lack of study on non-market channel,insufficient study on specific enterprise type,the ignorance of the vari ety and complexity of technology acquisition mode,and failure to reach an agreement on results.Finally,further questions and suggestions for future research are proposed.
