In-core heat transfer in MTR plate type fuel elements

Abstract Thermal and hydraulical measurements have been performed in the core of the High Flux Reactor at Petten. Pertinent design details of the special fuel elements are described together with the experimental procedure. The results with steady forced and natural convection and on sudden loss of forced coolant flow are presented and compared with calculated values.
