중속 디젤엔진 피스톤의 열전달 해석

Predicting piston temperature is an essential part of piston design process. Recent trends on increasing specific power of marine diesel engine require more effective thermal management of piston for the desired durability and reliability. It depends on how thermal boundary conditions of piston bowl and cooling gallery are correctly determined to predict overall temperature distribution of piston accurately. Specially, thermal load condition of piston bowl and heat dissipating condition of cooling gallery are most influential factors in piston heat transfer analysis. In this study, a proper approach to set thermal boundary condition of piston bowl was suggested from the results of 3-D in-cylinder combustion analysis and a numerical procedure using CFD was developed to simulate cooling process and estimate heat transfer coefficient inside cooling gallery. One of the Hyundai HiMSEN engine models was chosen to validate the analysis procedure. The predicted results showed a reasonable agreement with experimental results.
