Performance of Spread Spectrum Networks

Abstract : In this paper we describe throughput/delay performance results for Spread Spectrum Communication Networks. In previous work we have used a strong independence assumption and an iterative algorithm to generate approximate performance models for (non-spread) multiple access broadcast networks using random access protocols. The model incorporates the effect of buffering and finite populations. In this paper we extend these results to Spread Spectrum Networks capable of Code Division Multiple Access and study the effect of the multi-user threshold and capture. Originator-supplied keywords include: Packet Radio; Spread Spectrum Networks; Multihop Networks, Throughput/Delay Performance; Code Division Multiple Access; and Slotted Aloha.
