Analysis of iterative schemes for binary stochastic mixture transport equations

In this paper, the authors consider iterative schemes for solving the coupled system of transport equations that describe the flow of particles (here, neutrons) in a binary stochastic medium. This system of equations can be applied to solve problems in astrophysics, atmospheric sciences, and nuclear reactor design. In this model, each medium consists of a random mixing of two materials, such as immiscible fluids, where the stochasticity is due to the probability of finding each material at any point in space and time. In other words, since the materials are not allowed to mix at the atomic level, only one of the materials can be present at any given position z.
