Active filter solutions with high reliability for more electric aircraft

The electrical power system (EPS) of the new generation more electric aircraft (MEA) is a kind of hybrid electrical power system including both AC and DC systems. With more and more pneumatic and hydraulic equipments replaced by the electric equipments, the capacity of the aircraft EPS has increased for a large amount, and the power supply quality of the aircraft EPS meets big challenges. Aiming at these challenges, solutions of active power filter based on the interleaved buck cell are given. The using of the interleaved buck cell endows the filtering system higher reliability and better compensation performance. The proposed solutions involve the centralized compensation of the main power system, the compensation of the AC subsystems and 270V DC subsystem. Verifications are done for all solutions and the results indicate the good compensation performance to the harmonics of the aircraft EPS. The proposed solutions are proved to be feasible.
