The invention provides a power saving method for user equipment in an idle mode and a device. The method comprises steps: an expanded DRX cycle is configured, wherein the expanded DRX cycle is larger than the conventional DRX cycle and larger than the SFN cycle; and the expanded DRX cycle is sent to the UE so as to enable the UE to use the expanded DRX cycle to listen to a paging message in the idle mode.
