Theory and test research of dome structure and its vibration characteristics in a tall building

A new design of parabolic dome structure of square steel tube of building is introduced here. The dynamics analysis of this dome structure is proceeded by the finite element software ANSYS. Low frequency and mode are acquired by modal test. The results from modal test fit well with the one from finite element method. By analyzing the result from finite element and from modal test, it is found that this dome structure has advantage of forcing and material saving and is valuable to be researched deeply. The analysis indicates that the method and test result in this paper have referential value for the application and research of dome structure.
