On the Mechanism of Coupled Transport of Cu(II) Ions Through Bulk Liquid Membranes

Abstract Transport of Cu(II) ions through liquid membranes using 5‐nonylsalicylaldoxime as a carrier implies the presence of a 1:2 metal–carrier complex. The mechanism of formation of this latter is examined in the light of two possible alternatives. It is shown that chemical kinetics alone does not allow to settle the problem.
