Frequency domain parameter identification of harmonic potential transformer models using least square techniques

Currently available transformer models with single-valued parameters obtained from tests cannot adequately represent the transformer in the presence of harmonics. Accurate modeling of transformers must account for changes in signal frequencies and loading conditions as they occur. In this paper, the parameters of a potential transformer model are identified in the frequency domain. Two tests, namely, the no-load test and the short-circuit test, are performed at different supply frequencies. The parameter estimation technique used to estimate the model parameters is the least square error (LSE) algorithm. Simulation results are reported and show good agreement with those obtained by other techniques.
