Some Analytical and Theoretical Aspects in Adhesion Science

Abstract Two examples will serve to demonstrate that progress in adhesion science depends on more than sophisticated analytical techniques. Examining simple models of adhesional interactions, or of the state of surfaces, can lead just as well to a better knowledge of what is often called the phenomenon of adhesion.
