Compact broadband polarizer based on shallowly-etched silicon-on-insulator ridge optical waveguides

A novel type of optical polarizer based on silicon-on-insulator shallowly-etched ridge waveguide is designed, fabricated and characterized. The present polarizer is compact, broad-band, and easy-fabricated.
