Monitoring of Remote Seismic Events in Metropolitan Area Fibers using Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) and Spatio-Temporal Signal Processing

Remote seismic activity is monitored with DAS using a pre-existent fiber installation in an urban area. Background noise, which greatly exceeds the amplitude of the monitored seismic signals, is eliminated via 2D (spatio-temporal) signal processing.
