This booklet is as an expansion of the ideas and concepts presented by Arjan van Timmeren in his inaugural speech to the Delft University of Technology on April 17th 2013. The speech in its original format (Dutch) can be found on the bottom margin of the page highlighted in blue. While the English text should be considered complimentary to the original speech, it contains significantly more data and figures and follows a markedly different pace.
