On the Evolution Process of Enterprise's Core Competence in the Fast Changing Environment

One of the biggest challenges in the enterprise strategic management is the competence management paradox because of the fast changing customer requirements and enterprise management's limited rat ional decisionmaking in a dynamic environment.This paper analyzes in detaiis telecom company's changing competence in the 1990's.More specifically,this paper studies Lucent Technology,a traditional U.S.based telecom equipment vendor,and Huawei,a China based emerging telecom vendor,and investigates two company's core technology competence evolution process.We propose the concept of dynamiC and relative aspects of enterprise's core competence and core rigidity.The conclusion is insightful in guiding China enterprises's success in the fast changing environment.
