Experimental investigation of the nonlinear optical loop mirror with low-birefringence, twisted fiber

We measure the transmission characteristics of the nonlinear optical loop mirror with a polarization asymmetry. Simple polarization adjustments enable the nonlinear control of the transmission for applications such as pedestal suppression, amplitude regularization, and mode-locking.
