Estimation of Welding Machine Flexibility by Using Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) with Relative Closeness (RC)

Selection of the most appropriate welding machine usually depends on the manufacturing or expert knowledge involved in the actual welding field. The aim of this study has proposed the integration of Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) with Relative Closeness (RC) to estimate welding machine flexibility base on the welding quality index from the actual experiment testing. Leg size, penetration index, reinforcement index, electrical stability, and electrical cost are welding quality indexes that will be collected from welding specimens and electrical signals data. Carbon steel C400 was selected to create a welding specimen for experiment testing with two difference welding machines. DEA with RC will implement to analysis data from each welding machine. As a result, DEA with RC could use for estimate flexibility and based on result of data envelopment analysis with relative closeness welding machine A has higher score 0.0238 better than machine B.
